Guest of KPMG at Luttrelstown Castle

Played in a corporate outing as a guest of kpmg (www.kpmg.ie) at Luttrelstown Castle yesterday.  Brilliantly choreographed by KPMG to dovetail with the European Cup Final (Manchester Utd. beat Chelsea on penalties) – golf caps to support either side, subtle branding of the menus, excellent additional screens from Philips.

Luttrelstown was a serious challenge off the white tees, with a strong breeze blowing and excellent, firm, fast greens.  Congratulations to KPMG  on affording us the opportunity to play from the medal tees (so often corporate golf is played from tees that are too far forward).  However on the day many of us struggled to meet the challenge.

The day was set up as a shotgun start at 1.00pm.  The round took just under 5.5 hours – very slow by comparison with your saturday fourball, but probably typical for a corporate outing, particularly over as tough a track as Luttrelstown.  And the trick is realising that this is the likely pace and there’s very little you can do about it.  We had a great afternoon: one regular golfer, two irregular and one very irregular.  In our own better ball (on the card) unofficial competition the match was halved in fives at the final par three!  Almost as exciting as the penalty shoot out!

High quality production by KPMG and Luttrelstown Castle – both complimenting and endorsing each other’s professionalism and client focus.
