Today’s report in the Irish Times is good news. If someone is subject to misrepresentation on a social network, there should be access for the hurt party to the identity of the person or persons who wronged them. And normal process should follow in terms of righting any potential injustice. The report seems to indicate that Twitter is setting such an expectation with some of its users.
However I can see a flood of this activity. Too many people are commenting in too free a manner on social networks. Of course we want to encourage participation in public debate etc., but an awful lot of damage is alos being done to individuals and companies by people commenting in accurately on social networks. Ironically those individuals are also damaging themselves.
