San Francisco gets smart with green technology
…in the context of Ireland and its drive for a smart economy and knowledge society.
As I stand at bus stops wondering when the next bus is due and I think about the technology which is so easily available I wonder why we are not moving forward faster e.g. integrated ticketing?
Dublin needs to be a smart city. Press on asap. Food for thought in this article.

Hi Barry. I agree with you on the need for integrated ticketing. As you will see from the link below, some progress is being made at last, albeit slowly.

There is also information available on the Railway Procurement Agency web site:

Whatever about integration, the degree of cooperation betwen Irish Rail, Bus Eireann and Dublin Bus to obviate the difficulties caused by the Malahide bridge collapse deserves praise. As a daily user of the Dublin Bus service, I know that many people in the North County have nothing but praise for the service being provided by Dublin Bus. Indeed, many would continue to use the bus service – if it was to the current standard – even when the rail service is restored. Perhaps there are lessons in that for offering real multi-modal options to commuters and for the value of inter-organisational cooperation.
